Register as a sellerWho is who
Three parties, one platform sale
The original seller
Owns or controls the material. May be a registered ScrapTrade user or an external seller, subject to verification requirements.
The broker
Lists the material as a seller and carries a broker classification. Responsible for the listing and for seller obligations.
The buyer
Buys through the normal ScrapTrade process, as with any seller. Buyers do not need to take any extra steps.
What is private
The part ScrapTrade does not manage
The terms between the broker and the original seller are theirs. That covers the margin or commission, when and how the original seller is paid, and any conditions. ScrapTrade does not manage, calculate or distribute them, so you should put them in writing. See the agreement checklist.
What is on the platform
The part that works like any seller transaction
Listing, selling, order management and payment run through the same workflow as for any seller, and standard platform fees apply. See trust and safety for how the platform approaches trading.
Frequently asked questions
How does scrap brokering work on ScrapTrade?
You register in the broker category, agree terms privately with an original seller, list the material with a reference to that seller, and sell it to a buyer through the normal process. The platform handles payment as a standard seller transaction, and you settle with the original seller yourself.
What does the buyer see?
Buyers use the normal ScrapTrade process. The listing identifies the broker classification and the represented seller.
Who is responsible if something goes wrong with the material?
The broker, as the seller on the platform, is responsible for the authenticity of the listing and for fulfilling seller obligations.
Does ScrapTrade handle my deal with the original seller?
No. That arrangement is private, and ScrapTrade does not manage brokerage agreements or payouts.
Is the process different from selling directly?
Only in the broker classification and the original-seller reference. The listing, selling, order and payment tools are the same.
